Neoserra does not currently offer text messaging. There are a lot more government rules and regulations pertaining to sending text messages to clients, then there are pertaining to emailing clients. Since texts can cost money for the recipient, there are a few federal laws you need to be aware of. There is the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Under the TCPA, businesses may not send messages to anyone without their express consent ? in other words, you cannot use an opt-out system as we do for email where clients can unsubscribe after you have sent them something, rather you must have your clients choose to opt-in proactively before you send them anything.

And, then there is the CAN-SPAM Act. Under the CAN-SPAM Act, the FCC can regulate commercial texts sent to wireless devices to protect consumers from unwanted mobile commercial messages. All this to say that texting is not like emailing, the regulations are much stricter especially when you want to send automated text messages.

Lastly, texting costs money. There is a potential cost to the recipient but there is also a cost for the sender, typically ranging from $0.01 to $0.05 per message which can significantly add up.
